If you haven't weighed in on microwave usage please do! I'm curious as to how and why people use their microwaves.

Also Mara @ What's For Dinner is celebrating her blogovesrary and is giving away her favorite things, head on over for a chance to win.

Peace and Love,

  1. Congrats on your award (and thanks for passing it on to me). I enjoyed learning more about you. I had to giggle that you wanted appliances...wouldn't be a microwave would it?? Just teasing. Thanks again.

  2. You and I have the same fear. Im impressed you have flannel lingerie also;)

  3. Congrats on the award (you DO rock!) and thank you very much for mine!! I'll put it up in my next post! :)

  4. Congrats on your award and thanks for passing it on to me!

  5. Hey Laura, what a fun award, and just so dead on, hahahaha (ducking). Thanks for passing it on.

About microwaves, I have a different perspective. When I was a young teen my mom remarried and he lived aboard a huge (to me) boat. The galley was equipped with a 2 burner hot plate and my mom added a convection/microwave oven. It was amazing what we were able to cook on those two appliances. Later, when she and I lived aboard ourselves after her husband's passing, we managed to cook a full Thanksgiving dinner using this oven. Given our situation it was a lifesaver. Today, I still have one (but sadly not a convection combo) and I don't cook in it so much, mostly reheating and for tea. And melting peeps at Easter. That's an important one. But I see your point absolutely, you can do almost everything using a stove or regular oven. And perhaps too, from an environmental standpoint, someone (not me!) should do the math to determine the energy usage / savings for conventional versus microwave. I wonder which would win out? I don't think the micro would...

Am I talking DIRECTLY to you? Well then let me know!
