Thrifted Sunday

My treasures this week were limited, the stores were packed with people. I wonder if they were back to school shopping? Seriously I couldn't even find a cart or a parking space at my favorite haunt. I did find a few treasures and I have a few from last week I didn't share.

I felt a happy going to my sons closet and pulling out his back to school clothes which I have been collecting for months now, no freak out just a quick wash and tumble and we are set.  He may need new shoes but his favorite thing to wear right now are his waffle stompers or rubber boots so old shoes for in school may do for now. I love this aspect of the thrifting life, being prepared in advance is a priceless gift of peace of mind for me. Which I suppose eventually trickles down to family harmony.

Here are the treasures: first up the trike we bought last week at the BARN SALE...

isn't it great? And it hooks to our big wagon or little wagon for maximum working boy pleasures!

This was found at the BARN SALE last week too. I felt like it's beauty might be lost with the all the other goodies. I think this is a tea sized table cloth? Hand embroidered and cross stitched, it is so beautiful.

This painting intrigues me. What is it? I don't know but I think like it.

I love this painting too! The purple brown bear reading is softly relaxing to me.

I also found a couple books I can't wait to read: A Beverly Cleary auto biography-never seen one before thought it might be a good read.

And a Year in Provence, which I am resiting reading until I finish the book I am currently reading, Radical Homemakers. This is a great read about the importance of someone being at home. It is really helping me figure out where I want to go in life.

What have you found this week? or last? Why not skip on over to Southern Hospitality or Apron Thrift Girl and link up or check out what everybody else has been finding. Or doing with their finds. I love to browse the links late at night and get really inspired.

If you are coming from Southern Hospitality or Apron Thrift Girl why not check out Just Another Meatless Monday here, on my blog for great ways to go vegetarian. If you have a link to share by all means please do! The more the merrier.

Peace and Love--

  1. Lovely to be so ready for the return to school. When my daughter was younger I always had piles of clothes in bigger sizes, scooped up when I spotted them at boot sales or charity shops. She got to wear some gorgeous clothes in this way and I was always ready for the turn of season. At 13 it's a bit harder to find things to put by so we have to join the queues at New Look!
Love that little trike. I can't remember when I bought a toy new. I just love to find them used and loved and ready to move on.

  2. I went to Marshall's today and it was the same way - tons of people shopping. I'm like you - have been shopping for the last month or so so no last minute frenzy to buy anything. That bear picture is adorable!

  3. I love the cross-stitch of the birds on that tablecloth and the picture of the bear. I've added that book to my list of must reads. :)
