It's truly hard to believe that I last wrote here about a week ago, promising to keep posting while working two jobs blah blah blah blah blah. Yeah, about that, anyway. I was so dead tired every night, I would crawl home from the fair and go straight to bed. I had to be up again working in 8 hours so I truly had no time to write, or play online or waste inordinate amounts of time looking at peopleofwalmart.com. (completely mesmerizing) and failblog.
My poor husband tried to play me, in a dirty house with laundry piled everywhere, dog hair collecting in corners and everyone. wanting. food. all. the. time. Poor guy, I think he was overwhelmed too. My kids didn't seem to miss me one bit though and were a bit put out that my job at the fair was done. I think dad is an easy target for FUN THINGS TO DO instead of all that boring pick up after yourself stuff. Oh well I'm back and control shall be mine.
I learned a lot working at the fair though. Like, a smile will make most things better or if you smile at people they will smile back. An enthusiastic "have a great time" will catch most folks right off guard and they'll be genuinely pleased as they walk away. Might not help that instant but their final impression is that your booth rocks and all their friends should go there. I learned a lot about having a booth and have filed all that away for when I decide to have a booth. But mostly I returned to my initial customer service training-smile-be kind-be courteous-be clean-smile.
So I promised my kids I'd start cooking up goodies again and guess what? Yep, my luck, the oven died. I'm buying a new one, I've tried the second hand route, twice with crazy flaming results and I'm thinking new in a box is what I want. I can't be a food blogger without a dependable way to cook food. I have lots of canning to do and blanching for freezing and lots of other projects that require a working range. This would be the perfect time for a PR rep in the oven/stove/range world to read my blog and send me a new one. That it so not my luck though, my luck is more the flaming ham or exploding oven element kind of luck.
Peace and Love--
