2012 Goals

I don't do resolutions. Every year since as far back as I can remember I've had New Years resolutions and I've failed miserably at keeping them. or working towards them. Or for that matter even remembering what they were. They were always along the lines of lose 50 pounds. Stop smoking. Never eat chocolate again. So I decided not to do resolutions.

I don't do bucket lists. This implies I will be dying soon and I'd rather not. And I'd rather not think about it. (evenafter2weeksofwinterbreakwithtattletalechildren HA!) Plus I kinda get the feeling that bucket list only came about or got popular after the movie bucket list and that right there is a no go.

I will set a list of goals for myself. Lists, oh how I love thee. I can make lists and accomplish things AND CROSS THEM OFF and feel so good about myself. It's how I make it through the day happily accomplishing things. So I made my self a list of goals for 2012.

Here is said list:

Some are specific goals like learn to knit socks, I can start this right now. Seeking sponsorship is a goal I will work on long term over the next few months as well as getting the house in order. I can plan on putting up foods from our land, I can buy seeds, onion set and locate a weaner pig and cull calf to raise for meat. Once I can get a shovel in the ground we're ready to go and another goal is met.

I have a LIST!! It's all about word choice, resolution? meh. Bucket list? bleck. List of Goals? YES YES YES. What works for you?
Goals? Bucket List? Resolution?

 Peace and Love--

  1. I like your list! You know I am slowly recovering from my sock obsession. This is the book that started me off: Socks Soar on 2 Circular Needles. I can't post the link here nut you can find it on Amazon or where ever. Then for whatever size needles you need, I use mostly 1's or 2's, buy a 24" circular and a 16" circular needle for each size . This way you will always know what side of the sock you are working on. Trust me on this! It's a neat trick not in the book. I now knit everything in the round on 2 circular needles and it didn't take me long to learn how to convert a regular DPN sock pattern to this method. Now I need to go cast on a pair!!! Xoxo

  2. I am a serious list person (grocery lists, menu lists, to-do lists, cleaning lists, etc. lists). Socks are on my list as well (sewing fleece sox). I'm afraid I couldn't raise and eat an animal, so that's not on my list. But I like the rest of your list!! I have a few to add, like (learn to take deep breaths before commenting) hahahaha.

  3. I'm also a list person and I also do the goals (instead of resolutions). I love the feeling of crossing something off my lists, but, for the past year or two, I have really been bad about accomplishing my goals. My plan is to really crack down and make some lines through the goals!

Great list you have! I'll be interested in hearing about the increased food production and growing from your own land. I miss this about being full time on my farm.

    Happy 2012!

  5. If you come to my house, you can lean to knit socks....and you children can tattle on mine & vice-versa instead of simply tattling on each other.

  6. This is a great list! I was inspired by a friend to create a 'life list' since I would have about 40 years + to get it all done. http://lasirenenoir.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-2012-life-list.html
