Yum Hey What's for Dinner Mom?: Cookie Tasting Party

Cookie Tasting Party

Heck yeah was my answer when contacted by Archway Cookies for a cookie tasting party. What did you just ask me? Do I want to host a cookie tasting party???!?!?! That's not even a question in my book, it needs to phrased as a statement "you WILL host a cookie tasting party".

Rocky Road

And as soon as I received the cookies and the gift card to buy more cookies that is exactly what I did. I sent out invitations via Facebook and proceeded to buy cookies. I took my 6 year old and his nearly exploded from the sheer delight of picking out cookies. We rarely buy cookies and it was a big deal for him. He took his job very seriously and we mulled over cookie choices for 20 minutes. He picked some I never would have picked, they turned out to be really good so I'm glad he was vigilant in his endeavor.

Pecan Turtle
I was sent new flavors of cookies by Archway, Rocky Road and Pecan Turtle, a gift card and coffee and tea for the party--in full disclosure ALL provided by Archway. Our cookie tasting opinions remain truly ours.

contenders--Coconut Dreams and Pepperidge Farms Nantucket

contenders Chewy Chips Ahoy

contenders--Franz Peanut Butter(breakout best of party!!) Orange Milano, Mrs. Fields

My beautiful friend Mary!

tasting--no, that is not a cloud of smoke just sunshine reflecting!!

cookie tasting for boys too!

serious work!

All in all we tasted 7 cookies(I think) we disqualified Newman-Os because they are so far from a real cookie--we did eat the though!! We talked cookies, school, life and all the while tried to taste each cookie and score it on the card they sent us.

They wanted to know things like flavor, freshness, wholesome ingredients and had us rate them on a scale of 1-5. It was really fun. We discovered that Mrs. Fields cookies smell like sugar alcohol when first opened(BLECH) and are unnaturally soft and freakish. The Archway cookies scored really high, although the Pecan Turtle had a bit of funky imitation flavoring flavor to it. Could be me though. Franz Peanut Butter were hands down the best, soft but not too soft, flavorful and just good all around. The Circus Animals were like freaks of nature, covered in gooey stuff and they coated your mouth with...grease?? I don't know, I do know I don't miss them at all. I would buy Archway cookies, they were good, and a nice size too.

Thanks Archway for a fun morning with friends!

Peace and Love--

  1. What fun! I'd love to do something like this with homemade cookies - just for a reason to get the girlfriends together!

  2. There's nothing like a cookie party to cheer everyone up when the weather's deciding if it's going to get warm or blast us with another snowstorm! I've had Mrs. Fields cookies, with a reaction similar to yours, and am always happily surprised at Archway cookies. It's fun to let someone else do the baking once in a while!

  3. What a great idea for spring. It would be fun to have an all kid cookie testing party.

  4. Thank you for posting this. It’s exactly what I was looking for!
