How are you spending your pennies?
I've spent the week saving mine. I started off by not grocery shopping a whole lot and just making use of what we had here. I certainly COULD have gone to the store for this that and the other but in the interest of saving money I didn't until I HAD to. I finally ran out of shipping tape for sending packages so I HAD to go but I held out on grocery shopping until Friday my scheduled day. I also had to buy dog food and chicken food but I went to Alaska Mill and Feed in Anchorage to get this. No I didn't make a special trip for this either I had waited several weeks until I had several errands lined up. I barely made it back in time to get kids at school, so next time I won't leave so many things to do all at once. I learned my lesson.
One thing we did purchase this week was a borough parks pass so now we can to any of the parks and not pay because we have an entire year pre-paid. This is great because the groomed ski trails are all pay and park style. For 30 dollars you buy a pass for the whole year instead of 3 dollars a pop. I've already used it 3 times in the last week. Some quick mental math comes up with 52 weeks times 3 visits equals 152 visits. If I spent 3 dollars EVERY time it would be 456 dollars a year instead of 30. Now of course I WON'T be going 152 times this years but I could around twice a week and that's still 300 dollars a year. So for us the pass to the local parks so SO worth it.
I'm teaching a class today, my very first class ever to people OVER 5 years old. I should be nervous but I'm not too nervous yet! It's for our town's Second Saturday Art Walk, since my art is cooking this is how I get to be a part of it. I've paired up with Denise at NonEssentials and we're doing the class tandem, she's teaching how to make egg rolls and I'm teaching how to make sriracha hot sauce. Maybe I'm not nervous because Denise will be there with me.
I of course hit up a few thrift shops around but really didn't get much. I did buy this little hand made elephant
isn't he cute? He was popped on the nature table and immediately made into a war elephant a la Lord of the Rings. He seems happy and so are the boys.
And you?
Peace and Love--
I did spend some pennys on some thrift finds. Thank you for hosting. Greetings from Germany!
